Hekate, Goddess of Liminality - Print of oil painting
PRINT OF THIS OIL PAINTING
Mother Hekate.
Kleidoukhos, Dadophoros, Eilytheia, Basillea.
The Titaness of Liminal Realms
Hekate is a profound and enigmatic figure in mythology, not merely a goddess but a Titaness revered for her dominion over both the seen and unseen worlds. As the daughter of the Titan Perses and the nymph Asteria, she embodies the essence of thresholds and boundaries — holding sway over crossroads, doorways, and the twilight of night.
Her associations span the mystical and the tangible: she governs magic, witchcraft, herbs, and the secretive arts of necromancy. Often depicted with keys, torches, and attended by black dogs, Hekate symbolizes the keeper of hidden doors and the guide through night’s mysteries. Well-respected even by Zeus, she played a crucial role in the Titanomachy, earning her dominion over land, air, and sea, making her arguably the most powerful non-Olympian deity.
Hekate is also regarded as a protector of the marginalized—women, children, and those existing on society's fringes—offering her assistance to those who seek her wisdom and magic. Through offerings, she aids sorcerers in their craft, enhancing their spells and rituals. As a guardian of the dead and a summonress of spirits, she seamlessly connects the living with the realm of ghosts, crossing worlds with grace and authority. I could go on and on about Her, this painting comes from my imagination and how i see her crossing worlds.
I am working with a small print shop with this one because of the larger size of the print and because getting this specific red was....a challenge so it could take 2-3 weeks to ship.
Size: 20" x 20", printed on a high quality 100% cotton paper 300 g/m2 (All prices are in CAD) i chose this size as on smaller sizes, all the details disappear. Comes with approx 3/4” - 1” borders.
Please note that color might seem different in person as every digital device and screen have a different color calibration. Sizes might vary by 1/8”.
The print does not come with the watermark, it will be signed by hand on the back :)
